Lesson 10
Your Road Map
In this lesson, we’ll learn ways to look ahead in life and plan so that we can do what’s important to us.

Road Map
This interactive chart helps give you the direction, purpose, and motivation to create the life you want to live. Sometimes things seem impossible until we can visualize them. Research has found that people are much more likely to achieve a goal when they write it down.
Write as much of your goal as you can imagine. Even a word or two is ok. If you get stuck, or a box just doesn’t seem important to you, that’s ok. Just move to the next one. Sometimes, imagining what you might want for a friend or family member can help if you can’t think of an answer. Thinking about the future is always difficult, so don’t be discouraged if it doesn’t seem natural to you. If you can’t think about your life beyond a few years, take some time to be creative. Most people don’t do this often enough. Keep it positive! It’s ok if the same words appear in several of the boxes. You can do this!

Remind yourself of these goals every day. This can help provide a sense of hope and purpose when things are tough. It can also help you make decisions. When you make a choice, ask yourself: “Does this take me closer to or further away from my goals?”.
Don’t be afraid to update your goals as you try things and grow, either. People often find it helpful to update them every few weeks or months.
